In February, Kansas Housing received 11 applications for the four percent LIHTC, equating to more than $17 million in LIHTCs and Kansas Affordable Housing Tax Credits (KAHTC) for the first of two application rounds. Of the four applications awarded, the approved LIHTCs/KAHTCs and PABs will build 585 new units.
The Kansas Affordable Housing Tax Credit was enacted by H.B. 2237 in 2022 and amended by H.B. 2289 in 2025. Without the combination of these programs, many four percent proposals would not have been able to secure adequate funding to create affordable housing, allowing the annual state and federal resources to expire without full use.
Under the Amended 2025 Qualified Allocation Plan, KHRC will award approximately $16 million of the available KAHTCs for the two four percent PAB rounds. This round KHRC awarded $6.5 million of the $16 million KAHTCs.
Kansas Housing will accept four percent LIHTC and PAB applications for the final and second round of 2025 until August 15, 2025. Please reference the Amended 2025 Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP) for more information about the 2025 application and award schedule.
