In August, Kansas Housing received 15 applications for the 4% Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), equating to more than $21 million in LIHTCs and Kansas Affordable Housing Tax Credits (KAHTC) for the second of two application rounds. Of the four applications awarded, the approved LIHTCs/KAHTCs and PABs will build 406 new units and preserve 119 units.
The Kansas Affordable Housing Tax Credit was enacted by H.B. 2237 in 2022 and amended by H.B. 2289 in 2025. Without the combination of these programs, many 4% proposals would not have been able to secure adequate funding to create affordable housing, allowing the annual state and federal resources to expire without full use.
The updated 4% LIHTC and PAB project list is available online.
