On July 17, HUD’s Office of General Counsel (OGC) issued a notice rescinding 13 guidance documents, with a September 25, 2025 effective date of withdrawal, deemed either:
- Not statutorily prescribed;
- Inconsistent with relevant statutes or regulations; and/or
- Imposes additional compliance burdens.
The documents are related to Fair Housing compliance, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), Mrs. Murphy exemption, and admittance and eviction of tenants in federally assisted housing.
In Context: HUD’s Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO) withdrew several of it’s guidance documents in April, with a September 17, 2025 effective date of withdrawal.
