NH&RA has officially launched the new Council for Energy Friendly Affordable Housing (CEFAH). CEFAH is an independent council within NH&RA focused on developing policy solutions and practical, cost effective measures to reduce energy consumption in affordable, public and HUD-assisted housing. CEFAH at its first meeting on October 28 mapped out an extensive legislative and regulatory agenda.

The initial focus of CEFAH’s activities will be to identify and advocate for public policy solutions to (1) finance retrofits for existing affordable housing, and (2) remove regulatory barriers that discourage energy upgrades. Because of the research costs (legal and engineering) associated with this undertaking, CEFAH members are asked to contribute supplemental membership dues.
