The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs is conducting a comprehensive review and reform of its federal low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) program. The Department is scheduled to undergo review by the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission, which previously advocated successfully important reforms in Texas’ program related to housing for the poor, and LIHTC compliance and transparency. The reform comes as TDHCA continues to implement regulations and strategies around the new Tax Credit Assistance Program and the Section 1602 Exchange Program, to help expand the Department’s expertise on the technical housing finance aspects of the program.
