The Housing Assistance Council (HAC) has published “Rurality in the United States,” the first in its new series of Rural Research Notes, highlighting economic and housing characteristics of rural America. “Rurality in the United States” provides national and state-by-state statistics of the rural population, and discusses commonly used approaches for identifying rural areas. The Rural Research Notes series will also preview HAC’s Taking Stock report, a decennial assessment of the state of rural housing in America.
