The Massachusetts Department of Revenue (DOR) has released the first-ever Massachusetts Tax Credit Transparency Report. The report contains details on more than a dozen tax credit programs, including the Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, Brownfields Tax Credit, Economic Development Incentive Program Credit, and Certified Housing Development Tax Credit, among others. The new report was published after legislation was enacted in 2011 that requires all agencies with certain tax credits to report the identity of the awarded taxpayer and the credit program from which the award was made, the amount of the credit by taxpayer and project, and the date of the award by taxpayer and project for the previous calendar year. According to the report, Massachusetts awarded nearly $50 million in Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits in 2011, the largest total of any of the 13 categories.
