The Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) recently announced that Dave Herlinger, CHFA’s Executive Director from 1977 to 2000, has passed away. When Dave started as CHFA’s executive director in 1977, the organization had less than 10 employees and functioned with a small operating budget. Despite a modest financing infrastructure, Dave led CHFA’s efforts in that year to make $100 million in funding available for first time homebuyers and led CHFA’s first multifamily bond issue for the lowest income renters. As executive director, he started with a significant impact and his influence on the affordable housing industry only increased over time.
