The Tennessee Housing Development Agency announced Ralph Perrey as the new Executive Director in a press release on September 25, 2012. Perrey will leave his current position on THDA’s Board of Directors on October 16 in order to begin his term in this new position. Perrey will replace Ted R. Fellman, who will be leaving TDHA after 17 years of service and 30 years with the state of Tennessee.

NH&RA Executive Director Thom Amdur notes, “We wish Ted the best of luck in his future endeavors.  He has been critical partner to NH&RA Tennessee Developers Council and we are happy that he will be staying in the field.  Likewise, we could not be more pleased with the appointment of Ralph Perrey as THDA’s new Executive Director.  Ralph brings a wealth of multifamily knowledge and experience to the position.  NH&RA’s Tennessee Developers Council is very pleased with his leadership of THDA’s Tax Credit Committee over the past year and the recently adopted QAP which he stewarded.”

Prior to joining THDA, Perrey worked for Fannie Mae, where he served in several capacities, including director of the Tennessee Community Business Center, coordinator of the company’s Central Appalachian Initiative, and national co-lead of the Public Entities Loan Team. Previous to his work at Fannie Mae, Perrey served on the senior staff of former Tennessee Governor Don Sundquist, where he handled a variety of policy and communication responsibilities.

Perrey was first appointed to the THDA Board in 2001 and served two consecutive terms through 2009. He rejoined the Board in July 2011, after being appointed by Speaker of the House Beth Harwell.  Perrey has served as Chair of the Board’s Tax Credit Committee for the past year.

The Board’s approval of Perrey as Executive Director came after an extensive search beginning in May. Board Chairman Brian Bills formed a six-person Executive Director search committee, who reviewed applications from 37 qualified housing professionals.
