Washington, DC – March 15, 2013 – Bernie Husser, Executive Vice President of The Richman Group Affordable Housing Corporation, and head of its Boston office, was recently elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Housing & Rehabilitation Association (NH&RA) at NH&RA’s 2013 Annual Meeting in Miami Beach.  He succeeds Debra Koehler, President of Sage Partners LLP of Tampa, Florida, who served as Chair from February 2011 to March 2013.

“Bernie has been an invaluable member of NH&RA for many years and we are looking forward to working with him in this new capacity,” says Thom Amdur, Executive Director of NH&RA.  “I am confident that his leadership within the tax credit industry and overall organizational vision will help grow our membership and expand the organization’s knowledge base.”

Additional officers elected at the Annual Meeting include Jerome Breed, Partner at the Washington, DC-based law firm Bryan Cave LLP; John Weld Peck, Partner at the Cincinnati, OH based law firm Peck, Shaffer & Williams LLP; and David Abromowitz, Director and Co-Chair of the Real Estate Group at the Boston-based law firm Goulston & Storrs as Vice-Chairs.  In addition, Roger Yorkshaitis, Chief Financial Officer at Gatehouse Group, Inc. was elected as Treasurer and Robert Fein, Chief Operating Officer at Red Stone Equity Partners was selected as Secretary.

A nominating committee comprised of NH&RA Executive Officers and Past Chairmen nominated these members, and NH&RA’s Executive Committee approved the nominations on March 7 at the Board of Directors meetings held in conjunction with NH&RA’s 2013 Annual Meeting in Miami Beach, Florida.

“This newly elected NH&RA Executive Leadership slate has considerable experience in the tax credit industry and each member has individually and collectively shown outstanding leadership and dedication to NH&RA as a whole,” says Bernie Husser, newly elected Chairman of the Board of NH&RA.  “Although there are currently significant challenges within the industry due to the housing crisis and budgetary uncertainties, I am confident this leadership slate can provide the ongoing guidance and support needed to help continue to grow NH&RA’s membership and expand the organization’s footprint across the affordable housing and tax credit landscape.”

The NH&RA Executive Committee also approved the nominations of two new members of its Board of Directors, Orlando Cabrera, Counsel, in the Washington, DC office of Squire Sanders LLP and Cash Gill, Vice President of the Gill Group, Inc., based in Dexter, MO.
