NH&RA encourages our members to participate in the following calls to action.

Stop Drastic Cuts to HOME Funds

The Senate Appropriations Committee will markup tomorrow an FY-2016 THUD funding bill that slashes funds to the HOME program from $900 million in FY-2015 to $66 million in FY-2016. Ask members of the Senate Appropriations Committee to support Senator Chris Coons’ (D-DE) amendment to the FY-2016 funding bill, which would fund  HOME at $1.2 billion.

Strengthen LIHTC, Preserve Tax-Exempt Multifamily Housing Bonds

The ACTION Campaign is calling on Congress to protect, strengthen and expand the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (Housing Credit) program and preserve Tax-Exempt Multifamily Housing Bonds (Housing Bonds) as it considers tax reform and tax extenders legislation. Sign-on to their letter.

Advocate for the Historic Tax Credit

Earlier this year, Finance Committee Chairman, Orrin Hatch (R-UT) announced the formation of 5 separate Tax Reform Working Groups. These working groups will analyze various sections of the tax code. The Historic Tax Credit is being reviewed by the Community Development and Infrastructure Working Group Co-chaired by Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) and Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO). Members of Congress are currently developing their August schedules, so submitting an August meeting/site-visit request by early July is necessary. The HTC Campaign can provide assistance and materials for meetings/site-visits or assistance in inviting Members of Congress. Please contact Michael Phillips (mphillips@ntcic.com) if you would like assistance and materials for organizing August Recess meetings or site-visits to share the value of the Historic Tax Credit with Members of Congress.
