Florida Housing released prepared maps and preliminary analysis of several variables which may help identify areas of opportunity. The materials were prepared by The Shimberg Center for Housing Studies at the University of Florida in conjunction with Florida Housing’s January 29 rule development workshop on the topic.

For now, the analysis is limited to the seven large counties of Duval, Orange, Hillsborough, Pinellas, Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade. The presentation, maps, and preliminary analysis of the data are now available on the Florida Housing website.

At this time, Florida Housing is not proposing a specific definition of an “area of opportunity” or any particular method of incentivizing development in such areas. The Corporation invites the public to review the materials available on the website and to provide comments and suggestions to help identify areas of opportunity.
