Secretary Carson recently traveled to Miami to tour Tuscany Village Housing Complex, an apartment community located in an Opportunity Zone. Tuscany Village Housing Complex was recently built to provide affordable housing for low-income, elderly families in the neighborhood. This Miami community is just one of 427 Opportunity Zones which were designated by the Florida Governor as areas in need of economic revitalization. Secretary Carson was joined for the tour by Miami Mayor Francis Suarez.

Florida Housing issued RFA 2019-109 “HOME Financing to be used for Rental Developments for Hurricane Michael Impacted Counties and in Rural Areas.” To apply for funding, interested parties must submit the application, the Principals of the Applicant and Developer(s) Disclosure Form and the Development Cost Pro Forma. The deadline to apply for funding is 3 pm, ET on March 26, 2019.
The Florida Housing Finance Corporation will hold a Rule Development Workshop on Feb. 27 at 2 pm ET to discuss proposed changes to Rule Chapters 67-21 and 67-48 of the Florida Administration Code. Chapter 67-21 governs non-competitive affordable multifamily rental housing programs including the Multifamily Mortgage Revenue Bonds Program and 4 percent LIHTC. Chapter 67-48 governs competitive affordable multifamily rental housing programs including the State Apartment Incentive Loan Program, the Elderly Housing Community Loan Program, the HOME Investment Partnerships Program and 9 percent LIHTC.Read More
The Florida Housing Finance Corporation (FHFC) issued a Request for Applications (RFA) 2019-106 – Housing Credit and State Apartment Incentive Loan (SAIL) Financing to Develop Housing for Homeless Persons. An estimated $3,620,000 of Housing Credits and an estimated $10,300,000 of SAIL funds are available to proposed developments under this RFA.Read More
The Florida Housing Finance Corporation (FHFC) will hold a workshop on its RFA 2019-107 Financing to Develop Housing for Persons with Disabling Conditions / Developmental Disabilities on Friday, Jan. 18, 2019 at 10 a.m. ET. The RFA is expected to be issued in late February and applications will likely be due in late March.Read More
The workshop regarding RFA 2019-107 Financing to Develop Housing for Persons with Disabling Conditions / Developmental Disabilities has been moved from 2:00 p.m. on January 8, 2019 to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019. The workshop will be available by telephone or interested parties may attend in person at Florida Housing’s offices located at 227 N. Bronough Street, Seltzer Room, Suite 6000, Tallahassee, Florida. The Workshop Notice and Call-In Instructions on page https://www.floridahousing.org/programs/developers-multifamily-programs/competitive/2019/2019-107 have been updated to reflect the new date and time.
The Tentative 2019 funding amounts and timeline on page https://www.floridahousing.org/programs/developers-multifamily-programs/competitive will also be revised to show that the RFA is expected to be issued in February, and Applications are expected to be due in March. The Review Committee meeting is expected to be held in April. The Corporation will present the Review Committee Recommendations for funding at the scheduled Board Meeting on May 10.
