Minnesota Housing Finance Agency hosted a webinar this week regarding proposed changes to the 2018 4% bond program. The Agency received roughly 60 comment letters, including a letter from NH&RA regarding the proposed changes. Common concerns in the comment letters included family projects, senior projects, and the ability for municipalities to pursue local priorities.

During the webinar, Commissioner Tingerthal discussed the Agency’s strategic priorities and guiding principles. She also mentioned that the agency recognizes recent changes in the equity market and noted that the agency would be considering this as they draft a revised proposal. The Agency is also seriously considering a lower point requirement compared to the 50 points initially proposed in October.

The following timeline was discussed as well:

January 2017: Local Stakeholder Sessions
January/February 2017: Release of revised proposal and solicitation of public comments
February/March 2017: Publication of Final Proposal

A recording of the webinar, as well as presentation slides and frequently asked questions have all been posted to the Agency’s website.
