Fannie Mae and research firm Penn Schoen Berland (PSB) released survey data that found most Americans are struggling to find affordable housing near their job, better schools, childcare and job opportunities. 31 percent of respondents reported having trouble finding affordable housing options near their job. Nearly half (46 percent) of respondents reported that they cannot afford to live in a community with access to better schools and childcare while almost 60 percent of respondents report that communities with better job opportunities are too expensive for them to live in. The data comes from PSB’s monthly online survey of the general population (the “Pulse Poll”) conducted between April 8-12, 2019 with a sample size of 988.
