The staff of the California Strategic Growth Council recommended over $402 million in awards for the Affordable Housing Sustainable Communities (AHSC) program. The recommendations will be considered at the Strategic Growth Council Meeting on June 21.

The AHSC program is administered by the Strategic Growth Council and implemented by the California Department of Housing and Community Development. AHSC is designed to makes it easier for Californians to drive less by building affordable homes near public transit and the things people need every day, such as jobs, grocery stores, health care facilities and more. The program also helps people get out of their cars by building things that make it easier and safer to walk, bike and take public transit, including sidewalks, bike lanes, new transit vehicles and bus shelters.
