Tennessee Adds New Data to Interactive Maps

The Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) incorporated the 2021 New Construction Needs scores and Existing and Pipeline Affordable Housing units tables into its interactive map. On October 20, THDA said “the 2021 QAP will be published in the very near future, upon the governor’s signature”.

Tennessee Holds 2021 Housing Trust Fund Workshop on Oct. 22

The Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) will hold an application workshop for the 2020 Winter Round of its Housing Trust Fund Competitive Grants Program from 9 – 11 a.m. CT on October 22. Approximately $3.3 million will be available for the 2021 Winter Round.

The Tennessee Housing Development Agency released a list of preliminary proposed changes to the Draft 2021 QAP. Comments should be sent by Sunday, April 26. THDA will host a 2021 Multifamily Programs Developer Forum on April 22 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm CT.

Nashville Local Government Adds Department of Codes and Building Safety to Affordable Housing Fast Track Legislation

The Metropolitan Council of Nashville and Davidson County (Metro Council) amended the original fast track legislation to include inspections and certificates of occupancy by the Department of Codes and Building Safety for qualifying affordable housing developments.

Tennessee 2020 National Housing Trust Fund NOFA

The Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) released a $3,377,390 2020 National Housing Trust Fund Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA). The funding will go to Public Housing Authorities and nonprofit developers to implement eligible, affordable rental housing development activities, including the acquisition and/or rehabilitation of units or the new construction of units for rent to extremely low-income persons.

THDA Offers $1.8 Million through the Tennessee Housing Trust Fund Competitive Grants Program

The Tennessee Housing Trust Fund Competitive Grants Program supports rental housing development activities for households at or below 80 percent of area median income, including the homeless and chronically homeless; persons with mental, physical or developmental disabilities; individuals recovering from substance addiction; victims of domestic violence; veterans with multiple needs; youth aging out of foster care; and ex-offenders re-entering society. Nonprofit organizations, cities, counties, development districts, other State departments and public housing authorities are all eligible to apply.

Pennrose Celebrates Groundbreaking Ceremony for Cromwell Hills and Emerald Villages Redevelopments

Pennrose and the Chattanooga Housing Authority (CHA) celebrated the redevelopment groundbreaking ceremony for Cromwell Hills and Emerald Villages in Chattanooga, TN. The comprehensive initiative will repair and upgrade 200 units at the Cromwell Hills apartment complex and redevelop 111 scattered-site units into the new Emerald Villages.

THDA Program, Staff Updates

The Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) recently released 2020 Application Updates, the THOMAS User Manual and the 2020 New Construction County Needs Scores. THDA intends to propose an amendment related to Special At Risk and Distressed Counties Assistance which would impact the 2020 competitive cycle at the January 29, 2020 Board Meeting.
