Howard Cohen, who founded of Beacon Communities, will be honored with the Outstanding Impact award at Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association’s (CHAPA) 52nd Annual Dinner. Mr. Cohen is a leader in affordable housing, having led the production and preservation of more than 8,000 affordable homes and previously serving with Massachusetts Law Reform Institute, Cambridge Housing Authority, Boston Housing Authority, MassHousing, and Mintz, Levin.

Bellwether Enterprise Real Estate Capital LLC (Bellwether Enterprise), the commercial and multifamily mortgage banking subsidiary of Enterprise Community Investment Inc. (Enterprise), hired Jeff Bradley as a senior vice president to work with its Affordable Housing Group in the Dallas office. Jeff is responsible for originating commercial real estate loans with a specialization in affordable and market rate multifamily housing, and he also serves industry, hospitality and single tenant net lease sectors nationwide.

The Michaels Organization announced that it has significantly expanded its presence in the Caribbean, with the opening of a new regional office in Puerto Rico. The office will be headed by Michaels’ newly named Regional Vice President, Larry Padilla, who will focus on the redevelopment of Michaels affordable portfolio in St. Croix and St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands, as well as on new affordable and mixed-income development opportunities in Puerto Rico.

Enterprise and NeighborWorks America released a new report, On the Path to Health Equity: Building Capacity to Measure Health Outcomes in Community Development. The report shows how the Health Outcomes Demonstration Project equipped 20 affordable housing and community development organizations to evaluate health outcomes for communities across a range of programs.

R4 Capital recently announced the appointment of NH&RA Past Chair and Current Board of Director member, Ronne Thielen as Director of Public Policy and Advocacy. R4 Capital also announced that Cory Bannister has rejoined the firm to assume Ms. Thielen’s role as Director of LIHTC Acquisitions for the Western Region.

Priscilla Almodovar has been named CEO of Enterprise Community Partners, following a unanimous vote by its board of trustees. Almodovar is a former Enterprise trustee and joins Enterprise from JPMorgan Chase. Prior to her time at JPMorgan Chase, Almodovar was CEO and president of New York State’s housing finance and mortgage agencies, where she is credited with transforming the agencies and leading them during the Great Recession.
