Merchants Capital announced it secured $31.9 million in acquisition bridge loans and $57.8 million in seven separate 221(d)(4) loans for the Thetford Portfolio, a seven property Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) 221(d)(4) pilot transaction in North Carolina. The deal was closed in partnership with Vitus, the company said.

HUD and the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance their enforcement of the Fair Housing Act. The MOU allows HUD and FHFA to enforce fair housing and fair lending requirements by promoting information sharing, coordination on investigations, compliance reviews and the ongoing monitoring of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Supreme Court Blocks Enforcement of New York Anti-Eviction Law

The U.S. Supreme Court recently granted an injunction blocking enforcement of a New York anti-eviction law, finding that a key provision allowing tenants to attest to their pandemic-related hardship in order to prevent eviction violates landlords’ due process.
